PSU Class of 2022 Decision Thread

Will I still hear back by Jan. 31st if my scores were not received by November 30th? I sent my application in before the 30th.

We attended a campus tour early last summer and I recall the admission’s rep stating that the deadline is based on the application submittal date as opposed to addendum information like test scores. My daughter is still awaiting a January 31st answer as well… keep your fingers crossed!

@nammyohorengekyo mine said that too for a while and i just checked back and it’s back to normal, no different than before. don’t worry, you’re still in.

I am also waiting as well… application has been under review for a very long time. 1310 sat single sitting, 1350 superscore, 4.06w, 3.63uw. lots of extra curriculars too. I am a bit concerned that im probably not going to get in as Ive been waiting for a long time. Good luck to everyone in the last wave.

How long you wait doesn’t tell you anything about your chances…hang in there! Thousands more decisions to come out by next week

@julial26 Unless they changed something this year, it has always been that your application had to be complete by November 30 to get a decision by January 31. So if your test scores arrived after Nov 30, then likely you are in the next pool of applicants which will hear by the end of February. Per Penn State’s website…Note the “AND test scores”:

“Those students who submit a complete application, including a Self-Reported Academic Record (SRAR) and test scores, by November 30 will have the best chance of admission to their first choice campus and/or major and will receive an admission decision no later than January 31.”

FYI - the above doesn’t count for Nursing or Accelerated pre-medical - for those you need to have a complete application in by November 30 for consideration.

Holy Molly I got accepted to Altonna with 2+2 program instead of university park. Checked the summer option, not sure if I will go to a small college for two years. I may just rather go to Pitts. My stats: 1340 SAT 3.2UW

My daughter got into Altoona 2+2. Instead of UP.
Smeal-Marketing
Picked Summer as an option
4.0 GPA. 1150 SAT
Many ECC’s
Leadership roles-National DECA qualifier.
Internships during school for local Marketing business.
Part-time retail job
She was accepted into 10 other colleges mostly with honors invitations and large merit scholarships.
She just said "I’m not going to Altoona for that price. "

@Nealthakker I emailed and called the Admissions office multiple times regarding the same issue. They have specifically stated that International applicants will be started to review in February and decisions are released between march and mid april. Now since International applicants are reviewed after the local applicants are reviewed I believe that Internationals are put under rolling Admissions and are admitted under amount of space available which makes very very tough to get admission.I applied in October and my application has not gone under review yet.Let us hope for the best.

Today, I was accepted into Penn State Harrisburg. I’m kind of disappointed though because I wanted to start off at University Park. I was wondering if anyone could tell me why I was referred to Harrisburg though because I know a lot of people who have worse grades than me have been accepted into the main campus. Is it because the Pre-Medicine major is difficult to get into or could it be because of my stats? My stats are 3.8 weighted gpa, 1330 SAT, 31 ACT, 5-6 APS, National honor society, Asian Student Association, Health Club, etc.

My d was accepted at Harrisburg! We also were really hoping for summer at University Park. Actually she really wanted Summer. Any suggestions if there is something we could do maybe change major? Or what we should ask admissions? She applied to Eberly for Forensic Science.

Also we did the fafsa but it does not show on the portal…shouldn’t it be linked up or not until you accept offer?

Finaly Finaly very happy to see my D accepted to university park with DUS and Summer option. she was a border line student and after reading all info in the forum changed to Dus from eberly. This forum has been real helpfull.
stats 3.62 weighted gpa and 1300 SAT
very few EC and full IB Diploma with 3 HL and most of courses were Honors. proud of my D.
