@thinklogin Curious if you heard back?
Unfortunately, not yet. Headed to Fisher and Kelley for visits.
I would definitely follow up. They told me if we didn’t hear back within 2 weeks to check back. We are heading to Fisher this weekend. I think the early acceptance may have won out. Good luck!
@MYOS1634 I am an international student.
CGPA 9.8 projected score - 94%
I don’t have CS in my school subjects. That’s it.
Also,
When I asked them to give biotechnology, they said that their college of engineering is full.
And Can please anyone advice me yo which other campus should I go to for CS?
*Biomedical Engineering
Wbg@777, We will be at Fisher on Sat. too! Good advice. I will call PSU if we don’t hear tonight.
Is there any international application whose status is still not under review? I have waited for three months and my application is still not under review.
@HansChou Hey! I am also facing the same issue. I applied by November 30 but my application is still not under review. All the required items have been received.
@Tan2409 : Ask to be reconsidered for cyber security in the college of IST.
I wouldn’t attend a branch campus as an international. Surely with such Stats you have better options.
@Thinkofalogin : see if a special Admitted Farmer day is possible to add to your visited schedule too.
D applied on 01/26/2018, got admitted 02/14 at PSUP, CS major.
^ please to be useful to readers, list stats, numbers of honors+ AP, OOS or PA.
Accepted! Summer session 2018 (Criminology), after appealing altoona I was accepted in to University Park!
@Jhp1599 I am honestly stunned you got into UP with a 2.6 GPA regardless of how high your SAT was. If I were your mother, I’d be telling you to start at a commonwealth because UP is likely going to be much too difficult to start. I hope I’m wrong and you do great - but…
I’m wondering why Penn State is all over the place with 4.0’s being denied from DUS and a 2.6 getting accepted to ANY major. I say this as the mother of someone who had a 2.7 GPA in high school and I didn’t even permit him to apply to UP. He started at Altoona and is very successful there. My daughter started at UP and let me tell you - it was not as ‘easy’ as high school! CRIM requires Statistics for all options and calculus or econ for other options…it’s not a walk in the park major if you want to make something out of it. No major is. I wish you the best of luck, but honestly, I don’t think you are prepared for UP and you are setting yourself up for a very tough road.
@jhp1599: are you an international student where a 2.6 would be a good GPA?
Otherwise I’d be willing to question the sheer possibility of a 2.6 gpa getting into UP.
(A US 2.6 on the bubble chart is borderline denial at branch campuses.)
@jhp1599. Good work. Ignore the doubters.
@amdg2000 That’s fair. I’ll call myself a doubter. A 2.6GPA is not “good work” at PSU. I wished that person well hoping they do ok, but it’s more ‘tough love’ than mean doubter. A person with a 2.6 GPA is going to struggle mightily at Penn State University Park. I’m not trying to be mean. I’m being honest…as an alumni and as a parent of kids currently at UP AND at a commonwealth. I’m doubting…I don’t know if I even believe it’s true. I have never heard of such a low GPA getting accepted at UP, regardless of exception and regardless of SAT score. There are a lot of people on here with 3.8 + GPA’s who were denied who I’d guess are pretty ticked reading that…as they should be.

According to the most recent Common Data Set, about 4% of enrolled freshmen at UP had a 2.0 - 2.9 GPA.
I originally applied for Finance at Smeal back in September. I heard back from them at the end of January and I was accepted into their 2+2 plan (2 years at Behrend, then 2 at University Park). I wouldn’t have had too much of an issue with that but I really want to join AFROTC and they have it on main campus. So I called admissions and asked to be reconsidered, and when they told me I couldn’t be reconsidered for Smeal and that there was not a summer session for Smeal, I asked to change my major to Economics B.S. My application was reevaluated for weeks (I requested to be reevaluated Jan. 25 and heard back Feb. 16). I heard back this morning and I was accepted to the College of Liberal Arts at University Park and I’ll be doing the summer session for Economics. Don’t give up hope if you didn’t get into main campus right away!

MYOS1634, I wish we could tack Farmer on to this trip. We are headed there in March for an admitted student day. Still waiting on PSU.
@csschool01, that’s a shame. Behrend’s finance program is top notch. You would have had a ton of opportunities being tops in a smaller program there. Good luck at UP.
