@JackelynT Congratulations to your S! Just wondering when he applied since you did not expect results until March Still waiting on my daughter’s results. Her application was in by Nov. 30th but SAT score did not reach until mid Dec. She was told she would hear by Feb. 15th.

Does anyone know how long it takes to get your decision? I applied on December 12th and still havent heard back, my application has been under review for over two months.

Accepted OOS to UP in College of Earth and Mineral Sciences (undecided)
33 ACT

good recs

@dmezzz14 My son is in the same boat…hopefully should hear by Feb 28th or at least that is what I have been told. Good luck!

D recently got in 2+2 program she is selected for the Provost award of 16k for 4 years. What is that ?

2+2 is where you spend two years taking classes at a branch campus and then transfer to University Park for junior and senior year.

The Provost’s Award is a merit scholarship ($4k/yr = $16k total).

@happytoday: can you list the campus offered, major, GPA, scores, total #AP+Honors?

@apples11 thank you very much! that’s actually what happened to us too. He submitted his app by 11/30 and they didn’t receive transcripts until 12/20 they said. Which then put him into the first wave of “regular decision”. According to the website, we should find out by 2/28 however, when I called they told me that because of the number of apps they received this year, it was more likely that we weren’t going to find out until middle of March. Then the following week, I just had a weird gut feeling to check his portal, and there it was a big ole CONGRATULATIONS.

So i’m not exactly sure what to say about the timing of their application status. I think now, is just a numbers game. It’s whoevers app gets looked at next I suppose. Good luck to your daughter! I know how anxiety filled this time can be. For a while we were checking every hour of every day! But hope the wait ends with happy news for your D.

Any chance of wave today?

Applied 12/15. Status update from under review to decision pending/check back soon. How long does it typically take after that appears to get decision?

I applied December 2nd and my application is still under review. This is soooooo stressful

I have just been accepted to University Park! I applied to the College of Engineering in December (but my SRAR was sent in late in January). I am OOS.

My Stats:
GPA: 3.5ish UW
Rigor: 2 AP’s and all Honors for the most part
SAT/ACT: 1200 (600R/600M)
Ethnicity: Hispanic
Legacy: No
EC’s: Winter/Spring Track, founded my own startup, Junior iOS developer at a tech company, Debate Club, can play a few instruments, and Soccer.

When are Financial Aid packages going to be sent out?

Congratulations!
OOS students don’t get financial aid so if you can’t afford it, you’re out of luck :frowning:

@MYOS1634 That sucks! Do you mean that they don’t receive any Penn State Grants? :frowning:

What do you mean - what “Penn State grants”?
Instate students can receive state grants (not managed by Penn State), plus federal aid (Pell, Stafford). Some lucky few, both OOS and instate, can get Provost award ($4,000) and Schreyer Scholars get $5,000.
To get an estimate of what you’d be expected to pay, run the net price calculator.

@MYOS1634 right but OOS can also get the federal aid, i.e. Student loans, correct?

@simple0920 yes. File the FAFSA and the school will notify you when it has been processed and give the results.

Yes, absolutely. You can get federal aid (5.5k loan).

Besides the 5.5K student subsidized and unsubsidized loans there are also Parent and other student loans…I’ve done it with my eldest duaghter and will now have to do it with my youngest. Of course think hard about what loans you will come out with and what degree you will have - will you require a masters? Will your degree get you a job that will allow you to pay those loans when they become due. So hard thinking this way -
