But sometimes you pay for it for a loooong time. Who knows how long it'll take to pay off MITs 43K a year... :/
Penn State would be close to free for my undergrad and I'd pay minimally for the med school. And then I'd have two extra years of salary that I wouldn't have if i went through MIT and then med school. Also...the costs of med school applications/MCATs, even though it's prob not too significant...

Well, you dont have to go to MIT for undergrad...

BTW congrats on getting in MIT.

So money is the motivation ... not the facilities, academics, lifestyle, utilizing to do something more?

Not so much the money, but the TIME. I'd rather spend less time in school than actually making a salary or making a difference in my field of choice.

See, I'd rather spend an extra year or two instead of rushing through. I think a 7-year (or maybe even 8-year) program would be ideal for me.

I agree in the sense of time but what would you do with it?

work I guess. Two years extra salary...

ppl who haven't heard back yet - have you guys called the admissions office to see if you got an interview or to ask about your application status?

I'm leaning towards calling them and asking if I got an interview, because if what people above said is correct - that feb 16 is the only interview day, then i'd like to know asap cuz feb 16 isn't that far away...

Good idea.

Anybody here got the #?

BTW, who's the person in charge of the med program at PSU (i.e. ms. godino at rutgers, mrs. fleming at stevens)? Having their phone # would be a big +.

tried calling admissions friday, all their reps were busy the 5 or so times i called :(

any others contacted yet about an interview?

I called last week and left the message. The lady called day after and said they called 100 applicants for interview and about 30 more are getting interview by Feb.1st. They have not received the list yet from Jefferson medical

which # did you call?

i tried regular admissions and reaching an admissions rep... is that what you did?

I am 70% sure that there is only one interview day, because there were at least 100 people who were interviewed when I was there, and I recall not being able to choose a date.

Mistaippa ,
I called PMM prgram office. They said they already picked 60-70 students for the interview and another 30 or so will be selected by end of this week by Jefferson Medical. She said you will receive letter either way- Invitation or decline to interview.

I am struggling to decide if I should go to this one. I got an interview from others already and plan for more, but who knows. I also have no idea if it is a good program anyways.

Anyone else got word from them as yet? I am thinking of calling, since its been over a week from when supposedly they finalized decisions (feb 3rd), and have I still haven't recieved anything in the mail.

the interview day, feb 16 th is right around the corner, so ya i'd call them ... perhaps yer invite got lost in mail or they didnt' email u?

did you get an email mistaippa ? what # should I call ? Is Feb 16th the only date?? **** this is going to be crazily close....

i got an email then a letter, i don't know what # to call... sry

Do they make you prepare an essay to take with you for the interview for jefferson med school? Also, how do they go about interviewing 100 people in one day? Surely there must be another interview date, I'd hope ...; Also what is the email address for the PMM program; I'd like to send out an email now, since I won't be able to call until Monday.
