"Would we be able to enter the MPH program with Hopkins school of public health."
Yes. I plan to do that very program, in fact.

"hey how many tries do you get at the mcat? i heard you get 2 tries for the 6 year program, but if you don't get it are u allowed to spend a 3rd year and still retain ur spot at jmc"

Everyone is allowed to take the MCAT 3 times. It's offered every August and April.

If you're ballsy enough to take the MCAT in April of your first year, more power to you--my friend Dan did that. That's your first opportunity.

Second opportunity (which most people do) would be studying during the 2nd summer and taking the MCAT that august.

Third shot would be studying during the 2nd fall/spring semesters and taking the MCAT in April of your second year. I have a few friends who are doing that.

Or, if you opt to stay extra time at PSU, you can take it during your 3rd summer or 3rd spring.

"does anyone know when they send out notification of acceptance/rejection from the program?"

Late March.

one of my friend's friends found out she didn't get into the psu program... she then got an acceptance to schreyers' after she was rejected from the pre-med/medical program...

i found this all out tonight talking via aim

i still think the letters will be sent out in a week or two, and that this person was a special case perhaps because she was a schreyers' applicant as well, but who knows...

also if u check the application status online at http://www.psu.edu/admissions/ and login, it says:

"Status: As of 3/4/2005, we have reached a decision regarding your application. You will receive this decision in the mail."

so maybe they got ahead schedule, who knows

I got my acceptance letter today....damn now i have to decide between this and MIT...

I was so sad yesterday because I thought I had received my acceptance letter from Schreyers because Jefferson rejected me...but thank gosh I was wrong! Now I feel awful that Schreyers accepted me when another person could have had my seat. Btw...who else got into the program? I'm gonna do the 7 yr option...have WAY too many things planned for this summer!

What type of mail did they sent it through. UPS, normal? Thanks

they sent it in a big package through regular mail.

i MAY be attending with you...idk yet...ah decisions

uh the letter inside is dated March 7 and yeah it came in a big package that says "congratulations" on the front.

i just got my acceptance package as well! dated march 8 :)

good luck to those who haven't found out yet

i don't know if i will attend yet, although there's a good chance

that's awesome! hope to see you guys at the Penn State/Jefferson day in April!

i haven't even read it yet

yesss... i got in too.. feels so relieving to finally have decent options

haha did anyone NOT get in?

Where are all you guys from?

PA

And yes I'm sure people did not get in...I mean we're the only 4 people talking in this forum anyways.

in in IN....now do i still go to my RPI interview?

Can you all stand going to school in Penn State though? And Jefferson ain't the best choice either. Don't get me wrong, I got in but it really would take a lot for me to choose it over other schools that are better academically, socially, ect...

r u being sarcastic?
...cuz penn state is prolly one of the most amazing skools, atleast socially, in the entire country....

and jefferson is not a top 15 med skool.... but it is very strong... unless u got into case ppsp or northwestern's hpme or brown's plme.... this is probably ur best bet as far as accelerated med... rpi's physician/scientist isnt bad either

omg how far away is penn stat up campus from jefferson med? it seems like 3.5 hours away!! should this matter at all considering they are seperate and we don't need to be at both at anytime during this program?

penn state is about 3.5 hrs away from philadelphia, but that should not matter as you don't need to be at jefferson until u enroll into the medical school
