PSU - Smeal College vs Capital College for Acct

Description of the accounting major at Smeal - This major helps prepare students for careers in public, industrial, or governmental accounting and also provides an appropriate background for those planning to enter law school or graduate school.....There is a 150-credit requirement to sit for the CPA examination in Pennsylvania and many other states. The 120-credit Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting provides a solid foundation for students preparing for the exam.

Description of the accounting major at Capital - This major helps students prepare for careers in auditing and public accounting, industrial and managerial accounting, and in governmental and not-for-profit accounting....Students who complete the prescribed courses and earn a Bachelor of Science degree will satisfy the academic requirements to sit for the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) examination.

I'm going to be a freshman this fall at Penn State at Harrisburg and I plan to become a CPA. I'm enrolled in the Smeal College, but I think that the Capital College seems to be the better choice. From the description, if I graduated from Smeal I wouldn't have enough credits to sit for the CPA exam right after I graduate, but at Capital I would. What do you guys think?

This should be a no brainer. Penn State.

You can just double major or get a masters in accounting to make up for your 150 requirements.

150 college credits requirement is per state board to become CPA, not by PSU. If you takes 120 credits at PSU, you too can sit for CPA (take CPA tests).
