PSU tops Wall Street Journal's list

the Top 25 schools whose graduates were the top-rated by recruiters.

Wow, that’s really impressive. I think employers seek out grads from top, public universities because we actually work hard for our grades and represent a more “cosmopolitan” type of education (general ed requirements, practical applications, plentiful resources, and more varied internships).

Top private schools, like Harvard and Yale, are notorious for grade inflation. Plus, a lot of “name dropping” is associated with Ivies (not to say that people don’t name drop with PSU, it’s just that name dropping is used to connect to alumni, not to impress an audience).

I think it comes down to how practically prepared you are for the working force. PSU grads weren’t coddled and they’ve worked hands-on and directly into their field of study.

That’s I list I LIKE being #1 on!!!

The thing all the top picks have in common is a HUGE enrollment. From a $$$ perspective it makes much more sense for a recruiter to set up camp at a PSU or Texas A&M and interview 10,000 graduates than compete for the 1500 kids coming out of Dartmouth or Princeton.

That is true, but the article also says ""Recruiters say graduates of top public universities are often among the most prepared and well-rounded academically, and companies have found they fit well into their corporate cultures and over time have the best track record in their firms. "
