I took a lot of honors/AP classes throughout high school so that helped out a lot. Also got into NHS, NSHS, and Phi lambda Kappa and was captain of JV and Varsity tennis. May have helped that I’m Latino and a first generation student so :stuck_out_tongue:
General Comments:
This is my second choice school so I was pretty excited when I got my acceptance letter  good luck to the rest of you!

Hahaha thank you greenbutton!!!

Congrats everyone !! :D

Can anyone figure out if there is any rhyme or reason to how PSU makes their acceptance decisions? Judging from the stats that people are reporting, our son should be accepted to the College of Engineering–yet his status remains “reviewing…”.

And the response to our email to Admissions was not comforting. Basically they stated that it doesn’t matter if you apply soon after the application is made available. They do not look at the applications in the order they are received.

@lochelle we have the same stats so that’s kind of reassuring you got in, when did you apply? Also are you instate or out? Thanks and congrats.

@13melissas I applied in late October and out of state. I’m pretty sure you’ll get in, there is a lot of people that I see on the forums that have been accepted with my GPA but anyways good luck! :)

Other Factors:
I had a lot of honors/AP classes in science and math area throughout high school so that my transcript looked good. Also member of NHS, volunteer Chinese teacher at the local public school, JV Ice Hockey and Varsity tennis.Co-president of a club. I think my mulch-culcture background really helped me.

General Comments:
This is my safety school, I might not enroll. Personally speaking don’t like large public universities. Gonna ED Smith College really soon. I got my acceptance letter yesterday. So good luck to the rest of you!

Decision: accepted

SAT: 1730
ACT: 26

The picture stayed at UP, and never changed. It currently still says “coming days”, so I think everybody gets the letter before the status changes.

General Comments: Congratulations to those who have been accepted! Especially those who have had to wait for a really long time.
My school, although ranked very low in PA, sends many people to PSU (main and branch) each year, and many people get their acceptances in the same time period at my school. I went to an admissions event and asked one of the admissions counselors to waive my application fee. He had to send the request to one of the directors of admissions, so that may have made the admissions counselors know my name before reading my application.

Accepted Undecided

GPA: 3.5
SAT: 1750 (1160 cr+m)
ACT- 25
Rank- top 31%
Ethnicity: Caucasian

I was accepted into the Summer Session (I had selected that on the application)

Is there any remote chance that I could apply for reconsideration and be admitted straight into fall of 2013?

Or has the admissions office already decided that I would not be suited to go straight to fall?

Just ask, or else you’ll never know!

Accepted for Fall 2013!!!
College of Undergraduate Studies.

Penn State was my #1 so I’m suuuper excited!

GPA: 3.0ish (UW)
My school doesn’t weight or rank.
SAT: 1790
Private school OOS (class of 14 students)
Hooks: Great essay (about how major family probs have affected my grades), Dad is alumni, took all the highest classes offered, awesome ECs
Ethnicity: Hispanic/White

Lower stat students, don’t give up just yet!!! I was 99% I was going to get rejected so I was sobbing when I got my acceptance letter today.

*99% sure

Oops, so excited that I can’t type.

Can we have some rejected statuses in here just to see what scores are not getting in?

I would ask to not post if you got accepted with this school as a safety (2k++ SAT 3.7++ GPA), those honestly just flood this thread with the obvious.

More REALLY low scores that got in would be interesting too, just to compare the thin line between in or not to predict their admissions formula for next year…

Damn… I hadn’t checked for a couple of days and now today i find the ‘coming days’ status. I have a 2050 SAT and i am international. not much of a chance i guess? fingers crossed

Notes:
-Wondering if it was weird that I was accepted in a total of 10 days? I don’t have an outstanding GPA or SAT’s.
-While my GPA is low, my school has had discussions with PSU about the rigor and intensity of our courses and they have agreed to take that into consideration

@MGR2017
It is not weird you were accepted that quickly. My son was accepted about same timeframe, he has very similar stats as you. Good luck!
