Smeal…still waiting as are 38 others with mixed majors from our NY high school…
From my daughter’s NY high school, only about 2 other students applied. I wonder if that factors in at all.
Applied early November, no change in status (reviewing credentials), still hopeful and Penn State is top on my list, however, what would you do? Go to another school like Delaware and it be fully paid for, or if accepted, choose Penn State and take on student lines, like 50K?
@sunnyjames65 - UDel is a great school. More than a few on the PSU threads are also on the UDel threads. Some get accepted to both, some just to Penn State, some just to UDel and some fall short of both. If you have a choice, good for you! There are threads comparing Penn St to UDel. I don’t think you can go wrong either way (I’d probably prefer my S to go to UDel and save the $50K)
@brucemag - Thank you for your advice…I will try to find those threads. The head and the heart are fighting each other…albeit premature as I do not know my fate at Penn State yet.
I have a sophomore at UD and hopefully my second will attend Penn State!!! If you got a full ride to UD why would you think that you would not get into Penn State. Size and RA RA are a big comparison. Depending on your major, business and science classes appear to be a lot more tougher at UD.
My D applied pre med-had all stuff in by Nov.1. If she doesn’t get in at this campus, what should she do to get revelauated (ie change of major…). Can’t take this much longer. Seeing her stress is killing me…
@shlk423 not a full ride. Parents will fund up to a certain $ amount…which will not cover Penn State. The rest would be on me.
I will tell you that my daughter agenized between Penn State, UD and Indiana for weeks. In the end I think UD was the right place for her. My son is a big sports spectator and follower, in his opinion UD sports are a bit “lame”. As of last night he has the “coming days” so hopefully there will be good news for his later. What do you want to study?
My D applied 1st week of September for undeclared UP/ second choice summer. Status changed last night to coming days. Cant wait for this to behind us for everyone on here.
@judyvegas same thing, although my son chose summer right off the bat!!! On pins and needles. Are you in state or out of state.
I applied to PSU for Physics at Eberly on 11/9, and my status on the portal hasn’t changed yet. Should I be worried?
My son applied Eberly for math around 10/21 (I think some docs trickled in after that), and he has not heard either. He is in the grey/yellow area in the PSU bubble chart. Strict interpretation is that he will get an offer for his alternate campus but not UP.
No, I wouldn’t be worried. My Daughter applied in Sept to Eberly, and her status hasn’t changed either. It won’t be long now.
Shlk423…in state, and feel borderline for fall due to SAT using highest sitting score… How about you?
Out of State, NJ and same problem. Did you send more then one test anyway? Hopefully the willingness to do summer will be a good thing! Everyone that we know that did summer LOVED IT so he has no problem with it! The question is are these status changes just random with denials and acceptances or is there a method to this madness!!!
@Shlk423 I applied to smeal for ps, but UDel applied to engineering (and accepted) because I’m undecided. Interests are finance, computer engineering, mathematics, just not sure.
They are both very competitive programs. Good luck!!! I suggest you go visit both schools on an acceptance student event and see what feels right!
shik423… I hear the same thing about summer and feel it would be best for her to go in summer… however she was accepted to PITT early september and has almost unofficially decided to go there due to wait from PSU… if she gets summer I am not sure what she will do… Pitt is almost 5 hours away so I would not want her that far ;( but its her choice :((
@sunnyjames65 both are fantastic schools. My son had to choose between these two for Engineering. It came down to money. I think with merit aid from UDel it came very close ( w/ in $1000-2000 difference) to PSU COA of attendance. For us it wasn’t a huge difference and he chose PSU. However, if UDel had been much lower, we would have urged him to choose.
