If you're in-state, I think you have a very good shot. Keep up the good work, but you might want to raise your SAT scores a little to really secure a spot. Good luck!

I don't understand why you wouldn't have a great shot. You are at the 25% percentile mark. Did they explain why they didn't think you'd get in? Doesn't make sense to me.

University Park may be a reach, unless you are in-state. Perhaps you can spend 2yrs at a regional school (Go for Altoona hehe) and then go to University Park for the last two years. If not try to work on the SATs. If you get both over 600 I think you will greatly improve your chances. This is my advice coming an in-stater whose school sent 60 kids to PSU last year.

Yeah, I assumed you were in-state since your sister goes there and your dad also attended. Anyway, your chances are strong if you are in-state. OOS is probably a different story.

Penn State has a chart. On on axis is your GPA. On the other is your SAT score. You find your numbers and follow the dots. If you land in the blue dots you go to University Park. The Yellow dots take you to a regional campus. And black dots... well you know.

I have seen this actual chart. It is in the Guidance office of most Pennsylvanian schools. I believe there is a copy of it on the Penn State website. You should find this chart and check. For it is a good indicator of what will happen to you.

As for your sister theoneo it is alot harder for out of staters to get into Penn State. It is about as difficult for out of staters to get into UNC-Chapel Hill. So, obviously she had to have higher SAT scores. Penn State is nice to Pennsylvanians, but we have to make sure we pick them over outsiders unless they are really smart.

ehh, im not saying any of you are wrong, im just saying my sister got in with a 3.5 and a 1050, with no great hooks, same ecs as me, just a muhc more solid gpa.,,
