Which would be the better school, Penn State or Rutgers, in academics?
(especially engineering)

penn state

definitely Penn State

Penn State.

Overall, Penn State.

I think they're pretty equal in academics. I think that Penn State has a better reputation in NJ because everyone likes to hate on RU but the quality of the programs are equivalent. Both have great faculty (look at where the faculty graduated from and their accomplishments) and at big state schools like those, you get out what you put in. I would just go to whichever one is your state school since it will be cheaper. If you're OOS for both, just pick whichever one you think you will like more (they are very different schools... PSU is in the middle of nowhere while Rutgers is in a small city and a 30 min train ride from NYC.)

yea they both r equal...but when it comes to academics, especially engineering, PSU has the upperhand in ranks and reputation.

thats what i think from the responses by the people here and everywhere else.

i mean imagine you have to rank these 2 schools and one has to be above another, there isn't supposed to be two in one rank, so in that case PSU has the upper hand

Rutgers is strong for engineering. I would attend whichever is instate (if you live in Pa or NJ). I guess you are instate for Pa. (just looked under your name), so I would go to Penn State.

i go to Penn State.

just taking a survey because my cousin in Rutgers says they r better than my school.
