hi, i've been admitted for winter quarter 2006. i put undeclared on my application (my acceptance letter didn't indicate what major i got into though). after much thought, i plan to major in psych. so i'm wondering how hard it is to get into their psych major especially since i enter UCSD later. on the site it says their psych program is ranked #1 in the nation. would psych be a really popular at ucsd then? =/ if i'm able to get into their psych major, how soon could i start?

on the site it says:
"Approximately 1,200 students per year major in Psychology, and approximately 12,000 students take our courses each academic year."
does that mean there are only 1,200 spaces for psych majors or...?

also, if there's anything else you can tell me about the psych major at SD, that would be great =) thanks so much!!

I'm planning on majoring in psych at ucla or ucsd (not sure yet). At both schools it's pretty impacted. I was wondering where you got your stats from...as far as I know UCSD doesn't have the #1 undergrad or grad psych program. Are you talking about their Psychology Faculty Citation Impact Ranking? I have no idea what all that "faculty citation...." stuff means but I think that has to do with their fac. student ratio. I'd love to know how the psych prog. at sd is too. I'll update you if I find anything =-)
