Can anyone speak to being a Psych major at Case? Thanks!

There are a decent number of psych majors at case… I believe something like 5-7% of students are a psych major or have a double major or minor in it? They offer 10-15 psych classes a semester, and are all pretty interesting! I’ve taken a few as a liberal arts/social science student just for fun and have really enjoyed them!

My D is deciding between Case and a small LAC to pursue a career as an Art Therapist…so she will Major in Psych and Minor in Studio Art…I know Case is heavily into Engineering and the Sciences so I worry that this is considered " lightweight". Do all students flow together easily and interact? Is there any “looking down” at Social Sciences? I may be over thinking this but she is having a hard time making up her mind so all these things become important. Thanks for your response!

That is the beauty of Case, it is very well versed in all departments. My son, though he is not declared, is mostly interested in History and Philosophy. For university requirements, he took physics and calculus, so he still mingles with the math and engineering students. Yes, he does take some light razzing but the ironic thing is he often is the one helping them with the homework and then he has his turn returning the razzing (and remember, this is among boys). On another note, I can’t think of a better place to be for an art related career than at Case with all the art museums at their disposal (In fact, the other weekend we were visiting and we saw a group of students from Kenyon). The students use the museums quite a bit with their SAGES classes (required). Also, Cleveland Institute of Art is on campus also and I believe they all collaborate one way or another. The only thing I can say is that my son is very happy with his decision and now knows that he made the right choice. The campus has a wonderful feel to it, especially when it’s a nice day.
