Psych Majors!

Alright, so who out there is a psych major? I was thinking we could all post our stats in here and discuss what areas of psych we want to pursue. I personally want to study BioPsych... I am however applying as a psych major.

So anyway, my stats are

GPA: 3.88 - Honors
Applied: UCLA, UCB, UCI, UCSB, CSULB, SDSU
Accepted: UCI, UCSB, CSULB
Rejected: SDSU
Pending: UCLA, UCB

I am 99.9% confident I will be in at the UCLA as I have an athletic acceptance since I already play rugby for the Bruins!

So what about you guys? Where do you wanna go and why? The dean of UCI is Elizabeth Loftus whom I think is fantastic! If I don't get into UCLA, I'm going to have to say UCI is my second choice just because of her input into the program!

Now there’s a sport, rugby.

I am a psych major. I only applied to UCR and UCI. I got into UCR and am waiting to hear back from UCI.

Pscyh majors UNITE!

im a psych major…got in UCD and UCSB…!! waiting to hear from UCLA but i know i wanna go UCD since LA is too far for me…besides im keeping it as my grad school choice !

UCD Psych major here!

I’m also a Psych major and I’ve always thought that Psych major would be a good base for studying law or pharmacy at a graduate level. I’ve been admitted to UCI and UCSB so far. I’m still waiting to hear from UCLA. Good luck to you all!!

I’m half a psych major.

I’m Double majoring in psych and film, after I earn my degree I’m going to either try and go to a graduate film school or a med school…not sure yet. :P

yeah me too. I’ma be going to UCR as a psych major… iamjustin i applied to both schools too but i haven’t heard from uci either… doesn’t matter i’d rather go to riverside

Psych Major
3.77 GPA
Applied: UCLA UCB UCI UCSC
Accepted: UCI UCSC (Hardly any major prepwork done, suprised i got in)
Pending: UCLA UCB

EC: Normal honor society i guess (3.5+ GPA) and vice pres of Psi Beta for my school (psychology honor society for CCs). TAP for UCLA

I have IGETC done and all major prepwork completed for UCLA xfer.

Im like 95% certain i will be accepted. :-D

^ I am in the same boat, but let me warn you, try not hold your expectations too high. Otherwise, disappointment shall surely consume.

psych major here…should we list our stats?

GPA: 3.75
Applied: Cal and LA

any other stats?

I was reading some old posts the other day and some psych majors with GPAs around 3.6 to .7 were getting declined and its making me nervous that its gonna go even higher this year.

^ TAP or no?

I think it was without TAP… but they still had some good ECs… I’ll try and find the threads I read it in.

Scary. There’s always exceptions made. I hope I’m that exception. LOL.

Good luck Psych majors! [:

Are any psych majors here going to the WPA convention in Portland,OR this weekend?

In addition to being just plain interesting, I think it will be interesting to check out Psi Chi and see what its all about (I heard they are really research oriented and also there for mental masturbation)

Did anyone here use high school chemistry for the chem requirement?

Honor’s Counselor told me someone with a 3.5 with good ECs and Essays has a shot of getting in to either UCLA or Cal, but hey! Never know now…

Soon we’ll know, then we should post our stats here to help the future Psych majors. [:

Beardy, i used my high school chemistry for the chem requirement. I didnt put anything on my application about it so i think it seemed like i just didnt have anything for chem, but a rep from UCLA emailed me asking me if i had taken it, and if so, what my grades were. If you do go that route, remember to send in ur high school transcript too!
