Psych or Socio major? help me choose please!

I'm a freshman interested in studying in the social sciences. initially i planned to
major in sociology or anthro, but the latter is now out of the option since i'm no longer fascinated by it.

however, my peers all tell me that psych is more of a major to invest in than socio since the cal program is superb and has more job opportunities. As i'm planning right now for my spring 2013 schedule, please give me some opinions regarding the advantages/disadvantages of both psychology and sociology majors.

Have you taken both Psychology 1 and Sociology 1? Which did you find more interesting?

Career survey by major here: https://career.berkeley.edu/Major/Major.stm

Note that psychology is a capped major, while sociology is not: [Office of Undergraduate Advising: List of Majors](http://ls-advise.berkeley.edu/major/majorlist.html)

Well I’m a spring admit in FPF so I couldnt take either this fall, and I wanted to decide early on the major so that I wouldn’t have to overburden my schedule. Do socio majors also double major just like the psych majors?

Why not take in the spring the following so that you can decide?

Psychology 1
Sociology 1
Statistics 2, 20, or 21 (fulfills a requirement for both majors)
some other course (breadth, R&C, or another psychology major prerequisite)

Note that sociology requires only Sociology 1, Sociology 5, and “a course in statistics or logic” to declare. Psychology requires seven courses to apply to declare. See the following:

[General Catalog - Psychology](http://general-catalog.berkeley.edu/catalog/gcc_view_req?p_dept_cd=PSYCH)
[General Catalog - Sociology](http://general-catalog.berkeley.edu/catalog/gcc_view_req?p_dept_cd=SOCIOL)

(If you have AP credit, some of the prerequisites may be fulfillable with it. Or you may have already taken some prerequisites in your FPF courses.)

Sociology has fewer requirements (12 total courses, versus 15 total courses for psychology), so it may be easier to double major with sociology and something else than it is to double major with psychology and something else.
