The Harvard forum gets lots of posts per day while this Princeton forum only gets a few. Any theories as to why? Harvard applicants more anal? More intense? Just more numerous?

I’ve wondered the same thing. I suspect it’s simply because, for most people, Harvard is the bigger name. For many, it’s synonymous with “the best college”. For the same reason, I also suspect Harvard receives more “what the heck; it’s worth a shot” applications.

Is there a supplemental essay for Harvard? I heard no. That does make it the “what the heck” application.

Does this really matter? lol I don’t think we need to psychoanalyze anything. Prospective students for any elite school, whether it be Princeton or Harvard, will be competitive and hard-working. The “intensity” of applicants does not have anything to do with how many posts each school garners on College Confidential.

^ This is true.
The correlation is indeed tenuous.

Lol, I’m not doing a scientific study. Just musing. I’ve been watching this forum for weeks and it doesn’t see much action in relation to the Harvard one. Just wondering if that has anything to do with the kind of student Princeton attracts vs. Harvard (and Yale and Stanford for that matter).

The same thought had crossed my mind re the Yale equivalent.

In that case, I think that @sherpa hit the nail on the head.

The Harvard forum’s activity is as a direct result of the brand name-- indubitably the largest university/college name in the world. I still don’t think that ‘CC activity’ can allow for any reliable or meaningful conclusions about the type of applicant.

Looking at the content of comments made across the HYP forums-- I see no real distinction.
Perhaps one could make a case for there being more ‘nervous kid’ posts on the Harvard forum (‘chance me’, ‘what do I wear?’, etc.), but seeing as those posts exist on the Y and P forums too, I think that this particular nuance can also be attributed to Harvard receiving more applications.
