psychology as a science course?

i'm a junior trying to figure out my senior schedule and i was wondering if psychology can be considered a science course, since none of the other science courses my school offers seem like good options to me.

the main two academic science classes i could take are physics, which i don't have room for, or AP enviro, which i've heard is horrible at our school. if psychology doesn't count as a science and it's important to have 4 years of science, then i'd probably take 2 semesters of science electives (probably bioethics and astronomy, both unleveled).

which is better to take as a science? (none of the colleges i'm looking at require 4 years of science and most technically recommend 3 but i'm guessing they really would like 4) and is taking a science that important? i'm not going to major in science or math, and the main reason that i'm hoping to drop the traditional science course is to make room for the 3 social studies courses that i really want: euro, international relations, and psych.

sorry if this is a bit disorganized, but i'd love opinions on how important it is to have 4 years of science, whether psychology counts, and whether or not taking science electives in place of a full year course is ok (i'm applying to very selective colleges, so...)
thanks for your feedback!! :)

No it is not a science.

If you are not going to major in science/math you are probably ok. What science classes have you taken so far?

Psychology is a social science.

@anotherparent: i’ve taken earth science, biology, and chemisty
if i’m going to major in poly sci or IR, do you think that’s enough?

I do, but check the colleges you think you might be attending. Make sure that it looks ok to them. If they say 3 years (4 recommended) then you are OK. It would be better if you exceeded the minimum in some other area - like languages, or english, etc.

My daughter has 3 sciences - Bio, Chem and Physics. She has not had any trouble getting in places. Physics is a bit better than earth sciences, but I would not sweat it.

Depending on the focus of the course, it could very well be a science. Ask your guidance counselor and the teacher about this.

It’s pretty standard to take physics before entering college… Are you sure there’s no room for it?

theoretically there’s room but i’d have to drop a history class and i wouldn’t have any free periods which would stress me out a lot. i know taking physics would make me miserable, but is it something that i have to do anyway?
