Psychology courses, how are they?

What are the undergrad psychology courses like at Rutgers NB? Is there a lot of writing involved?

Check the professors rating site. People usually post if they have to do papers.

My son took Psychology class this past semester and it consisted of 2 online tests (taken at home/dorm) and one in class. No papers

General Psychology is generally pretty easy, depending on the professor. Just go to class and take a look at your notes. The textbook is very easy to follow and you can expect to go through the entire book throughout the semester. Most of the psych classes past gen psych require a bit more work as they are major oriented. Basically just keep up with the syllabus and notes. Hope this helps!

Hello.

I have taken 4 Psych classes at RU.

Two were VERYYYY reading reading intensive!!! The tests and quizzes were extensive and unnecessarily tricky.

The other two were overall very information heavy as well but you could survive without reading if you paid attention in lecture. The test and quizzes were fair. Not overly easy, but not designed to trick you.

Out of these 4 classes two had weekly paper/essay writing. Nothing too bad though. Mainly reflection papers that only took about 1.5 hrs each to write and were not too strictly graded. The ones that had a lot of writing were not necessarily the same ones that were also reading intensive.

RU has a rep amongst us students as having hardcore science classes. Probably because of what a big Research school we are. Psychology being a Social Science falls into that category. Many of them are manageable since Social Sciences are considered “soft science” but once you get into those Psych courses that are more neurology or biology based, good lawd you are in trouble.

@TheLookingGlass Any tips or insight of Psychology with Premed at rutgers? Im interested in going to med schol but not very good at really hard sciences
