Psychology major for pre-med?

I really want to major in psychology for undergrad since I heard that "premed" isn't exactly a major, but as I start looking at schools and majors they offer "premed" seems to be on many of their lists. Can someone clear this up for me?

If I major in psychology and still take classes required for the MCAT, am I at an disadvantage compared to kids who majored in biology/chemisity?

Thank for your help :D

No you aren’t at a disadvantage. You could always become a psychiatrist, which also requires a M.D., but usually studes psychology as undergrad. There are all different types of doctors, just to let you know.

Thanks Scientificmind. I know if I do become a doctor I want to be a pediatrician. That is why I was wondering if I would be at a disadvantage.
