Hello, this is my first thread, so please excuse any mistakes!

I'm applying to universities as a Psychology major. I know it's late, but better now than never... Would any of you know any schools with a great Psychology department/program?

Privates or publics (UC/CSU)! I'll do more research on financial aid/stats myself.

If it's relevant, my prospective career choice is a lawyer (I'm thinking civil litigation or family, so far). And I'm crossing my fingers that I'll do well in undergrad and on the LSAT in order to get into a 1st tier law school--according to Rankings - Best Law Schools - Graduate Schools - Education - US News

To the negative Nancies, I did try Google!! I'm probably doing something wrong though, hahaha

Oh my gosh!! Really?! This makes me so giddy!!! Sadly I’ve been checking this thread so much to see any replies. I’m so happy to even get one at all!! Thank you so much, Analgin!!! AHHHH that makes me so excited since 4 of those I am indeed applying to (every UC rep I talked to told me their psych department was great… go figure). I’ll be looking into Santa Clara. Sadly my stats definitely are not worthy for Stanford, Cal, LA, and the Claremont colleges… well, hehe it’s all good. Thanks again!

I’m graduating with Psychology BA from UCSD. I originally came for econ but ended up dropping it for Psych and it has been surprisingly pretty amazing. UCSD is known for pre-med and engineering I had no idea they even had a psych major lol.

UCSD was ranked 7th in the nation for Graduate-Psychology- go figure. The grad students are my TA’s and their profs are my profs. So in turn undergrads get an amazing faculty and variety of classes. Psych undergrads are not cut-throat like the pre-meds here. People joke that it’s UCSD’s “easy” major but I have had far better profs and course options than other majors.

Going to the #1 Psych school (whatever that is) means you’ll be against the most competetive classmates and end up with a lower GPA and a lot of stress. Also you get lost among all the uppity students trying to make the ta’s and profs know them for future rec letters.

Look at the Psych dept web pages for a few of the schools ur interested in. Compare the course requirements and look at some of the course catalogue descriptions to see if the school offers courses you’d be interested in. You can also google a few profs to see their specialties.
