psychology master or phd program

Hi everyone!I am currently a Psychology undergraduate from another university. My ultimate goal is to earn a clinical Psychology PhD. I am interested to the programs offered by UH.Somebody told me that I had to do a research and had it published on journal.
Can I ask if I need any research experience for application of master or PhD?
