I'd really appreciate some help in deciding between these two majors. Right now I'm a sophomore at Kennesaw State University with a 3.8 GPA and so far I've taken predominately general education courses with some emphasis in Business (lower level micro/macro econ and accounting). I plan on transferring to the University of Georgia. Right now I aim to go for UGA's A.B in economics program, but I'm worried about the math. I understand that graduate programs in economics are very math intensive, but I definitely don't plan on getting a masters economics. If I went with economics as my major I'd either try to get an MBA or go to on to law school ( my preferred choice, the MBA would be a back up if my GPA falls). UGA requires statistics and a calc course for their A.B program, and although I've gotten A's in the math courses I've taken at Kennesaw (precalc & elementary applied calc) it was only after a good amount of studying and overall worrying. I would be taking the less intensive econ courses at UGA to keep up my GPA in order to get in law school.

Overall I would choose to major in economics because I find the theoretical and behavioral side of it interesting, it would provide a good background to hopefully get into law school, and even as just a A.B degree I have the possibility of getting a reasonable right out of college as long as I do internships and the like.

On the other hand I have a strong interest in psychology. I took regular and AP classes in highschool, did very well in them, and just enjoyed them in general. I loved learning about the people's different behaviors and the reasons why people act the way they do. Essentially, I enjoyed pretty much everything I learned in psychology (although I did have great teachers).

The reason why I'm hesitant to major in psychology is because the career's and salaries paired with the subject. It's not that the job outlook is necessarily bad, it's just that I can't picture my self in most of the career paths possible. I definitely wouldn't want to be a school counselor of some type, and just don't see myself working in a clinic all day long and speaking/treating patients. Some sort of a more business/ industrial-organizational oriented path appeals to me more. If I majored in psych I'd most likely get my master's to open up more careers, but even then the salary is not all that great; especially when compared to that of an economics related career (although i know that major is many in many fields).

Also another factor in my decision is that I without a doubt want to move out of Georgia and work somewhere up north (I'm from Jersey). I believe economics would give me more better-paying job opportunities up north. I'd love to go to college up there (Rutgers) but the out of state tuition is enormous and the hope scholarship in Georgia is to great of an opportunity to pass up. I don't want to come out of college with a large amount of debt, especially if I'm considering going on to law school.
Any sort of insight into my predicament would be greatly appreciated!
