Psychology student p/np math courses?

Hi! Recently UCB has required students to take an extra math course along with Statistics. I already finished stats and thought I should take the first part of single variable calc because other UC’s ask for it. At my ccc, there are 2 halves to pre-calculus (4 units each) and I was wondering if I could take those for P/NP and then Calc for a letter grade?

I haven’t taken any p/np classes yet and I would like to keep my GPA high. My counselor was a little iffy about it since, technically I could but usually it’s for GE (or IGETC) courses. Do you think UCB and other UC’s would be okay with this?

Are you a freshman? When are you planning to apply? And when would you take each class?

This is late but I’m applying this fall for fall of 2017. I’ll be taking the first half of pre cal in the summer, second half in the fall (2016), and single variable calc in the spring of next year.
