Does psychology count as a science credit? My high school doesn't have it, but I was thinking of taking it at the community college my senior year to compensate for having only 4 science credits (rather than 5 like many students in my school). In addition, I'm simply interested in the class and I want to take it sometime. I don't really care too much about having it count toward university credit, since my top choice (Amherst) wouldn't accept it anyway. Does psychology count as a science credit or a humanities credit?

At my high school it counts as a social studies credit, as it probably should.

I assume this is the norm.

Science? No way.

At my school it's also under social studies, but just check with your counselor or someone who would know to make sure.

For the longest time I too was also under the impression that AP Psych was a science credit, but I found out that it was a Social Studies elective when I went to register for it.

Yes, its a social studies elective, not an actual academic course.

Thanks for the clarification.

I think I need Social Studies credit worse anyway since my high school only offers 3 classes in Social Studies, none of which are rigorous.
