What would be a good major for those interested in these subjects? Is a "Public Health" major widely offered? Are there any good schools with good programs regarding either public or global health policy?

There are plenty of schools that offer Public Health...
UC Berkeley and UC Irvine do, for example (sorry, I'm a CA resident, so I know more about UCs XD)

I think there are some with global health too, but I don't know any specific schools.

Brandeis has a Health: Policy, Science, and Society major, or something like that. Alot of upper-tier schools have them, although I'm not familiar with all of them.

Do a Google for Undergraduate Public Health and a lot of programs will pop up.
There is also this outfit for accredited grad schools:

Johns Hopkins has Public Health
Georgetown has International Health
UPENN has health and society which you can concentrate in international/global health or public health

dudedad: that link is for grad. public health schools, undergrad

Considering that a Master's is pretty much standard, you need to be thinking grad school. Like any thing that means you can take a little bit of freedom in choosing an undergrad major. Want a more international feel? A foreign language major would be good. Have more of a policy type passion? Maybe polisci is a good choice. Want to explore how different groups are affected by Public Health decisions? Sociology is a great background. Really want to do a lot of the data crunching? Math or Biostatistics are necessary skills.

Also keep in mind that many medical schools offer dual MD/MPH programs. If you have an interest in epidemiology/infectious diseases, or want to work at some place like the CDC, an MD could be a necessary component.

All in all, there is a lot of interesting things you can get into, and lot of different angles you can pursue.

what about integrating business and global/international/public health, eh? oui oui?

I have been thinking of much the same thing. Could majoring in Anthropology or Environmental Studies work? I wouldn't want to go to med school, though

Tulane has a school of Public Health and Tropical Medicine

anyone else know any other undergrad colleges that provide global/international or public health majors?

If west coast is an option, USC (Univ of So Calif) offers an undergrad in Health Promotion Disease Prevention.
