I know USC would have bunch of libraries (how many libraries does it have anyway?) but i was curious about the public library around USC. I like reading fiction and wasn't sure if USC would provide the selection...

IS public library around USC pretty nice or is there one near the place? If there is.. is there a website that i can do book searches on? (USC library site or just Public libraries)

I have no idea how many libraries there are at USC, but there are two main ones.

As far as public libraries in the area, there is on the western border of campus, and then a big, nice one downtown, which you can get to really quickly and easily.

We have 21 libraries at USC, although many of them are off-limits in that their collections are available to serious researchers only. (and by serious, you usually have to get a form signed by a faculty and stuff like that to get in).

The main libraries at USC would be Doheny and Leavey. Doheny is the old bldg that you see in many USC brochures, and it's the one with mostly books, as well as a nice large study area during the daytime (at night, it's too dark IMO). Leavey is the 24/6 library (as it's closed Sat night) but it has a very limited book collection on the 4th floor. Otherwise, it's mostly study space and computer labs at Leavey.

Uhm does anybody know where i can go for general 'reading for pleasure' books?

I wanted to read stuff like "confessions of the ugly step sister" and the sequel of holes but i don't know which library might have stuff like that... uhm help me out please...?? (oh yeah libraries are open on labor days?? prob not right?)

Also, if you go to Leavey and walk past the check out counters and turn left to where there are study cubicles, along the left wall are a whole bunch of contemporary books.

The public library on Vermont across from USC is in terrible condition. I used it a lot when I didn't have access to a computer. It is confusing to use. The librarians try to help, but are not that skillful. I come from a super clean modern library in suburban Long Island so this one was downtrodden looking . It is sad that LA does not put a lot of $$ in a public library. There are lots of locals that go there and it would be nice if they kept it nicer.

I know about homer. I already looked stuff up without a whole bunch of things jumping at me so i was trying to narrow it down to one library... or just some place i could goto and pick out a book on the spot.

BTW the DVDs in leavey.. do you have to look it up on homer before you can borrow it? what if you just wanted to look around so you could pick a movie you lke?
