I know there are tons of threads inquiring to what is the best major...few of them include public policy in their debates. I know you are supposed to major in whatever you are interested in and what you can get a good gpa in.
My question is the following, would a major in public policy be more-so lumped in with those pre-professional non-theoretically business majors, or more so with the economics majors? I ask this because I am debating whether to continue on with economics or transfer to the public policy school, as next year will be the first time it is offered for undergrads (at a very respectable non-ivy league school). Assuming I am indifferent on both, how will either, more specifically the public policy major, be seen by law school admissions?

Higher GPA with the new Public Policy? Other than that nobody, no school or adcoms care.

The GPA matters, but the quality of the major matters, too, so I think hazmat has simplified the issue too much. Public Policy could cut both ways. I think you are asking the right question. You should get some opinions around your school about the academic rigor of the programs you are deciding between. The types of courses on your transcript, and the degree to which you will both do well and have strong academic recommendations will matter more than the title of the major.
