I'll be a freshman this fall and I have already been accepted at ECU, and waiting to hear back from NC State on March 30th...

I'm going to be majoring in public relations at either school I go to. Which school would be the best for my major? I know NC State is stronger in math/science while ECU is better for nursing/arts. Location isn't a problem, I live right between both.

I know NC State has higher academic ranking than ECU, but I want what is best for my major.

Anyone have any idea? or at least know of certain courses I should be looking at and how to choose a better public relations department from another?

ECU is becoming much more selective-my niece was admitted last year, but did not attend. My understanding is the mid 50% acceptance scores are mis-leading. That said, and having a son who is currently interviewing for jobs in this area-I would look at where students in this major ( as well as English and Journalism) get internships=both in the summer and as part of their senior year. Do any of the either school’s study abroad programs provide opportunities in PR? The global economy requires a much broader perspective on public relations. finally, I would talk with each career office and find out what job placement percentage is for their PR majors in this or a related field. Good luck!
