Is there easy public transport to the beach?

Orange County Transport Authority:

There is the UPass, a low-cost bus & Metrolink option for Chapman commuter students; not sure whether this applies to all Chapman students:

[Chapman University - HR - Rideshare Incentives](<a href=“Human Resources | Chapman University”>Human Resources | Chapman University)

The nearest Metrolink station has trains going to the beach:

[Metrolink :: Orange](<a href=“Page Not Found | Metrolink Trains”>Page Not Found | Metrolink Trains)

On the metrolink site it doesn’t show a train going to the beach. One goes to San Clemente, but that’s kind of far away. I’m trying to find public transportation that goes to Huntington Beach or Newport Beach, or the closest beach to Chapman.

Oh, sorry. You can do a search on the OCTA site, or on Google. Maybe the Chapman folks have a specific answer.

According to the Chapman website, Laguna Beach, Huntington Beach and Newport Beach are all within 20 miles of campus.

Actually, taking that metro to the San Clemente station will hook you up to the #1 bus (Direction: 7th-Channel) which drops you a minute’s walk from Laguna Beach. It’s a 1-hour and 34 minute journey.

For transit directions to HUNTINGTON BEACH there are several routes. This is the quickest at 1 hour 35 minutes:

Walk to Orange Trans Ctr - Dock 1

Bus - 54 - Chapman Avenue - Direction: Chapman-Valley View

Arrive Orange-Main (Stop ID: 2963)

Walk to Huntington Beach, CA

++++

Transportation to NEWPORT BEACH (quickest route – 1 hour 37 min):

Bus - 59 - Brea to Irvine - Direction: Campus-University Center

Arrive Newport-Short (Stop ID: 5037)

Walk to Newport Beach, CA

Dang, an hour and a half to get to a place which is 20 minutes away by car. Public transport stinks…

Yeah. Travel time varies depending on day/time but still. Hopefully you’ll find a friend with a car. And, perhaps there is even a campus shuttle or car pool system for beach trips.

A campus shuttle would he cool. Oh well, I’ll try and figure this out when I visit next month. Thanks for helping though!

Im guessing you guys dont live in So. Cal. Public transportation in southern california is terrible. You need a car here in order to get around.
