public transportation

hey,
does anyone know the fastest way from uci to ucla and vice versa? thanks.

People don't really use public transportation here.

what do you use to get to places not in walking distance then?

we drive.

Fastest way to UCLA is the 405.

I heard there was a train station about 10 minutes away from campus. Is that right?

Hey alicantekid, how long does it take to get to UCLA using the 405? I want to meet a few friends up at UCLA while I attend UC Irvine.

Depends on the time of day. At 12 midnight..45 minutes...at 12 noon..an hour and a half easily..maybe more.

Thank you sir or madam.

if you can't drive, then is there a subway or train that can be taken to ucla?

I guess you could take a bus if you don't have a car. If you took a train, you'd have to take a bus FROM the train station to UCLA, which takes forever. Buses, as a rule, take MUCH longer to get anywhere than by car. Like twice as long. At least, in LA; dunno about the OC. I'd recommend catching a ride with someone, like me, who also has friends at UCLA =P

There is a train station, but you'd have to drive about 10-15 minutes south on the 405 to get to it. Then you have to wait there. Then you take the train, and I don't even know how close to UCLA it'll get you. I live less than 2 miles from UCLA and I don't know of any metro stops near here. Seriously, a car is the best and fastest way to get there.

If you leave during non-rush hour, you can get there in just over an hour. If you leave really late (after 10 pm), you can probably get there in about 45 minutes if you're going fast.

thanks you guys

yea see if any new freshmen who have a car in the dorms also have friends at UCLA and carpool. It's about making new friends in college anyways.
