Am aware of the "best" private school programs. Which public universities are supposed to have good/excellent programs in this major?

I'm sure any of the top publics (Berkeley, UCLA, Virginia, Michigan) would give just as equal a great education in this field and/or government/politics as the top privates. I would check out the websites for the departments of these schools. I'm sure lesser known publics have great departments too, but I'm not as familiar w/ them.

For International Relations, there are two Publics that are very highly regarded. They are the University of Virginia and the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Cal-Berkeley and Michigan-An Arbor are amazing in Political Science, but they do not have strong International Relationtions programs.

Technically, Wisconsin doesn't have an IR major anymore, but you can be in that specific concentration of political science, although it's not an offically recognized "concentration". You still have the same profs/classes/etc. but it's just "political science". I guess that Wisconsin has the top African Politics department in the nation, although I cannot cite that from any source it was a discussion amongst professors in the field.

I agree iwth the rest of this thread.

UW does have an international studies program, if I'm not mistaken.

Yep, U.Va. has a strong IR program.

UW has it--called international studies

Yep, I was right=)

thanks for the input

UCLA doesnt have an international relations major, but it does offer one in International Development Studies

Yeah, I was talking about the specific IR courses from the political science department. But you're right, obviously. I should have mentioned that.
