Pulling me down...

So my ACT is pulling me down when it comes to college admissions. My GPA and ECs are great and if my ACT was higher I could get into some great schools. But unfortunately I have taken it three times earning a: 22, 23.5 (24), and a 25. C: 25, E: 31, M: 24, R: 24, S: 21. Superscored is a 26 (S: 24). I will not be taking it again because I have gotten tutored twice and feel as though this is the best I can do. I have always been terrible at standardized testing.

As for college, I have my reaches (Boston University, Northeastern, American). I feel as though they are reaches just because of my ACT. I also have some matches/safeties (U Denver, Loyola Chicago). But I feel like I want some more options. Preferably out east, but not necessary. What are some schools that would fit my ACT range? Or schools that look less closely at test scores? My GPA is 3.92 with difficult classes. I have good, involved ECs. Please help! I don't want to be disappointed with the school i go to just because of ACT.

An ACT that low with a GPA that high is strongly going to suggest grade inflation, which is really going to diminish those grades you worked hard for. Maybe try the SAT? No excuses like “I’m just bad at standardized test!” Buckle down and put the time, and results will show.

I also think you should try the SAT. And look at the test optional schools, like Bowdoin and Bates. If you do a search on this site, you can come up with a list of them.

I don’t disagree with the advice the other responders have given you. But there are dozens of very good colleges that would love to have a 3.92 student with a 24/26 ACT.
