Punting on ED/EA

Getting down to the wire... I'm more or less deciding to not
apply ED/EA anywhere. Here's my reasoning. Does it make sense?

I'm a CA resident ranked in the top 10% of my public high school;
last year 20% of the class went to UCB, UCLA, or Ivies.
I have decent SAT's and EC's. So I have a fair shot at UCB and UCLA.

I wanted to apply ED to UPenn. I'm now deciding RD because I want
to choose among colleges after I get in!

I thought of SCEA to Stanford. They tell me it doesn't incerase my odds.
Besides, my app may look better in RD because I'm tracking A's
in a lot of AP's in senior year.

Third choice is NYU. From what I've heard that could be very expensive
and they're tight on their finaid. Definitely not ED.

USC doesn't do EA.

So now I have no ED/EA ... I get an extra month to do my apps!

I'd personally go with the SCEA at Stanford, you're a cali resident with great chances, Your chances are significantly increased from RD to SCEA for Stanford, whoever told you they aren't is wrong. Second of all, worst they can do is defer you (since it seems you wouldn't be rejected) and then you'd automatically have a chance RD. That's my two cents.
