How and where do most students purchase textbooks? Do you wait until classes start to find out and then search on-line at like Amazon and such, or purchase from the Book Store on grounds? Are you supposed to have them the day classes start? Any info will be appreciated!

I usually buy my books on half.com or amazon.com because their used books are cheaper than the bookstore. You can find a list of books for classes that is updated fairly regularly on the bookstore website. The only disadvantage of this is that if you decide to drop the class you can't return the books. And no you don't usually need the books on the first day.

Thanks for the info!

I was just checking online at amazon.com and addall.com for prices of books just to get an idea, but then someone else told me today that some of the professors change the textbooks the first day of class or come out with a "just updated version" so I was told that you should wait until the first days of classes...so that you wouldn't be stuck with books you cant use? What have most of you guys done who are 2nd, 3rd, etc. years? What are you first years planning on doing? Just would like a recommendation. Thanks!

I'm definitely planning on buying the books after the 1st day of classes.

I have never had a professor change books on me. I've already bought most of my books for next semester. The earlier you buy the cheaper they'll be on line. If you wait until after the first day, then you may need to buy them at the bookstore because shipping becomes a factor.

I have no idea what my textbooks are so I can't purchase them. I blame this on being in e-school.
