Current and former students, help a newcomer here....

We've gotten the advice to try half.com or amazon for textbooks, in order to save a lot of $$$. But, you need the ISBN numbers, which I can't seem to find anywhere on the Pitt site. I found the Book Center site, but it seems that you have to actually preorder, you can't just look up a course name or porfessors name. At least, I can't find it. HELP!

I am pretty sure you will eventually be able to view a list of every book for every class section, including the full title, authors and ISBN. I'll check with son after work.

you can find a list of the books for most of the classes for the fall on the GOT USED BOOKSTORE's website http://www.gotused.com/51/
-this is a bookstore on Pitt's campus but isn't associated with the University, but they have all the books.
-you can then go to a website called www.bigwords.com and they compare all the prices for you. Its easier to have the ISBN, but if you don't you can type in the title and search and look for the book with the right cover. (The picture is provided on gotusedbooks). Bigwords will also give you the ISBN # for the books if you just search by Title or Author.
-just be careful when you buy books online because sometimes the books are sold out and the seller forgets to mention that or they send you the wrong edition. But that doesn't happen too often and it will definitely save you tons of $$
