Purchasing Textbooks

Is it a good idea to purchase textbooks in courses you're sure to take before school starts? I'm just worried that I might somehow not end up in the class as I planned, or end up not needing them because the teacher says so. When do people normally buy their textbooks?

bumpity bump bump

Buy all of the textbooks that you will need for the rest of your college
career now. That is what most people do.

Real Princetonians hand copy their textbooks.

If you buy books in person at Labyrinth Books before the start of classes, they give you a rather generous timeframe for returning them.

bump bump (until the OP & I get a real answer)

Real answer: many people never buy the textbooks. Just use your friends’ old ones.

I have no friends, in case you didn’t already realize. Bumpin some more.

A lot of freshmen buy their books at Labyrinth after they’ve met with their adviser and picked courses. After a while, they start to realize that it would have made more sense to either buy the books online or in some cases just not buy the books at all. There’s definitely no need to be thinking about buying books until you get to campus. Most courses don’t actually use the textbook during the first week or two, so even if you order online relatively late you’ll be fine.

Thank you! Is the Labyrinth overpriced like every other merchandise affiliated with Princeton? Cause I get my princeton shirts on ebay for less than half the prince :D

It’s overpriced compared to online.

Thanks weasel for answering our question
