Purdue, applied late (3/30/14)

I know Purdue uses a rolling admissions cycle. I applied late (3/30/14) so I am wondering if it will affect my chances.

Academics:

3.47-ish UW GPA (School doesn't make very easily accessible)
33 ACT
Will have taken 2 college classes (on campus) by the end of this (senior) year. 9 Credits total.
4APs (School doesn't offer many and some conflicted with college classes timing)
Many Honors and Accelerated Classes

Essay was good and unique, about restoring a muscle car with my dad. Supplement was short (100 word limit) but I'm fairly confident in it, I talked about undergrad research.

Letters of Rec: The ones I have seen are strong, but I really don't know how to critique them. One is from the professor of a College Class, A counselor, two coaches and a couple teachers.

ECs:

Varsity Track (3 years) not my main sport, I do it to build speed and train for longer distances. Team doesn't have leadership positions.

Varsity XC (2 years) qualified for and ran in 2012 and 2013 USATF Junior Olympic National Championships

Varsity Alpine Ski (4 years) skied my whole life, competed at State 3x (alternate freshman year), also race NASTAR privately.

Club Triathlon (3 years) Going to age group Nationals this August.

Medical Explorers (1 year) at local Hospital

Volunteer at Hospital (3 years) Not really my thing.

Online Lego business (7 years) Sell custom Lego online, very profitable operations.

Creative Writing: Espionage Novel professionally edited and currently in publication process (focusing on school right now, will talk with agents in may/june)

National History Day (1 year) competed at State level in 2012

High School Newspaper-Journalist (2 Years)

I have an uncle who got a Master's from Purdue, listed him as family attended.

info:
Gender: Male
Race: White/Middle Eastern
Income: 350k+
Out of state
Intended Major: History (probably will change)

Just thought I’d say good luck. I’m in the same boat as you: applied on 1st April, good stats but disadvantaged because of the late application.

I’m not exactly sure if we’d be at a disadvantage or not because apparently a lot of people who applied to Purdue a few months back still haven’t heard from them. It’s possible that they’re still saving space for late/potential applicants. Your ECs seems awesome though. I’m sure you have a good chance.
Good luck!

I don’t think they are saving space. As the May 1 deadline is approaching, schools really want to finalize their admission result as soon as possible. All late application will still be considered but the chance would be a lot lower.

My son’s application was completed last week of December. It’s still ‘in committee review’…!! It’s going to be a long wait for you kids.

In that case I guess there’s a chance they might give the rest of the decisions after May 1. Sigh.

Oh wow, they’ve been “reviewing” it for 3 months? That sounds painful.

:-(

Anyone hear anything?

Son’s app status has changed to ‘waitlisted’… What does one do now??
