Purdue Honors vs NC State for MolBio and Genetics

Hey all,
I am debating Purdue vs NC State right now. I have been accepted to Honors at Purdue but I have been waitlisted for the Scholars program at NC State (I think I have a decent chance at still getting in because my stats are really good and my essays were respectable, but I don’t want to depend on it). I want to do a double major in molecular biology and genetics, with the intent of eventually getting an MD/PhD. The cost is very little for each, with Purdue being slightly more expensive as it is out of state, but the difference is negligible. I like NC State’s campus a bit better, but I actually like Purdue’s weather better. My main question is this: would either college significantly hurt or improve my chances of getting into a good graduate program? And if I don’t eventually make it into either the Scholars or Honors programs at State, would that put me at a disadvantage when it comes to graduate admissions?

Both are great schools. Since both are very similar in their offerings, I’m guessing the people aspect will also be similar, so chose which campus you like the most. My oldest graduated from State (ChemE) with no intent on going to grad school, (did not do honors or scholars) and his company is sending him, got in no problems. My second son is there now (started honors, but left after a year) and is in the process of choosing grad schools and having plenty of options. He is also a science major (physics).
