Purdue offer rescind chances?

So I’ve been accepted into the polytechnic school at Purdue, which I am VERY excited about!!! But, out of a combination of senioritis and how the class is “over taught” meaning the material is more advanced than the curriculum, I have a D in precalculus honors. The over taught thing is coming from my teacher not me by the way.

The only option at my high school was the honors level for precalculus, so now I’m here. I’ve gotten steady B’s in other math courses, a C in AP physics and an A in computer science.

Will Purdue rescind my offer if I finish the year with a D in precalculus? This is the polytechnic program so definitely not on the same level as engineering. Every day I get more and more stressed about this so please any answers will help. Thank you.

I would be worried about a D in math too for polytechnic. Is there anyway you can get that grade up to at least a C-? You may want to be proactive, call admissions, and see if you could make up the course over the summer.

The general rule is no Ds, Fs or Felonies. Talk to your instructor about getting more help.

Thank you for your response. I talked to my instructor today about staying after school for “tutoring”. A C is definitely within reach.

I got a 69.7 in AP Chem last semester. I called Purdue and they advised me not to drop it. I dedicated a lot of time and will hopefully finnish the class with a C+! Purdue wants to see improvement and resilience as much as possible.

I am doing fantastic in my AP computer science class and honors civics & economics class. It’s just precalc that is killing me and with 24 days left in the year I’ll probably finish with hopefully a D+. It’s not like I am slacking off in all my courses, do you think Purdue would take into account my other (and better) grades? Good luck with AP Chem! I hope you can finish it off with a C+ too.

Purdue over enrolled by 500 students this year. Don’t give them a reason to look twice at your final transcript. There is still time!

Brought my grade up to a C- in precalc, B in ap computer science and an A+ in honors history. GPA went up a bit too. Hopefully it all pays off

Just curious where you saw that. I was surprised to see them on the NACAC list in May as still accepting applications (although probably not for STEM majors). Right now, however, it looks like they are only accepting transfer applications, so you could be right.

@Groundwork2022, here is a link to the information about over-enrollment by 500 students: https://www.purdue.edu/newsroom/releases/2018/Q2/purdues-pleasant-surprise-largest,-most-well-prepared-class-in-history-expected.html#.WuxxO8yQ_Sk.facebook

Gandalf78, Well that’s right from the horse’s mouth, so-to-speak! Looks like they have some exciting things happening there!

I believe it was a satellite campus still enrolling, not the main campus in W. Lafayette.
