Purdue or IU?

I know this question has probably been asked thousands of times, I would still like to know the answers of people. I am looking into both of the schools and have been accepted into both schools. I am a pretty smart guy I guess I could say, like to have a good time, want a good education and also have a blast while being at the college I go to. I really just need help with whats best between both schools because both schools seem amazing to me.
Note that I am originally from southern indiana and a lot of people from this area go to IU after high school because they just want to either party or go because friends are going... Thats not me. Dont get me wrong I love to party and have a great time, but I want to meet new people and enjoy what the university I go to has to offer. Help me out if you all can, THANKS.

I’m much more familiar with IU than PU, but here’s my take:
In part, it depends on what fields interest you as potential majors. For some fields, IU is going to be a better choice and vice versa. IU has an incredible range of majors, including many that are not commonly found at other schools; it’s reasonably good in a large number of those fields; and, it has an amazing range of specialized resources. IU has a much prettier campus, and is in a much better town (actually, one of the best college towns in the country). You are correct that many students go to IU for the wrong reasons—either to party or because their friends are going there. There is a big party scene and it’s wise to avoid that or you’ll not last long. So, that includes making good choices of what dorm or apartments you live in or choosing living-learning communities that take academics seriously. Many students choose to move out of the dorms, but the housing market in Bloomington doesn’t always work in students’ favor in terms of cost, availability of nice places, or places that will support your academic endeavors, etc. unless you make careful choices. IU is also very large in terms of numbers and how spread out it is. Some of these negatives probably apply to PU as well.

It really depends on what you want to major in, but generally speaking, IU would be a better place than Purdue.

I went to IU, but I grew up in the back yard of Purdue. I do think that you need to look at the following factors. Will you get more aid at IU? Have you been accepted into the Honors College at IU? Huttons is a game changer for some, especially the housing. What do you plan as a major? Obviously there are different strengths at both schools. One thing that you might want to consider as far as a diverse social scene. IU has more OOS students in all areas, whereas PU has a lot of OOS students for pharmacy and engineering. I know that most people change their major, but it is good to know your strengths. Humanities, Social Sciences, Biology, Business - IU. Chemistry, Physics, Engineering- Purdue.
