Purdue or Ohio State?

I got accepted into both school, but now I am having a hard time on making an decision.
I want to study in Health care related career(pre-med, dentistry etc.), possibly Business or engineering. Do both of these school have the same % of Asians?(just curious)
Which school have a better reputation?
And also, is it neccessary to accept their offer early like now so I could get a better dorm or something?
Thank you very much!

Im looking into both as well so I can help you out a little bit.

First of all it doesnt matter when you accept your offer for Purdue (housing wise), you may have to pick a later registration date but its not like youll be the only one, tons of people wait to choose their final shcool, so dont worry about Purdue

OSU sends out the housing stuff beginnign in April, however they send it out according to who sent in their deposit so for OSU it matters a little more (100 dollars)

For sciences, engineering and a decent bness school you cant go wrong with Purdue

For OSU I would say they have the upper hand with Fisher but lose in the sciences or engineering (though still really good)

It comes down to what you want.

That prollly didnt help so much but theres a little info

Are you in-state for either school?

Is money an issue?

I am an OOS. But I guess there’s only a $3000 different on the tuition?
By the way, thanks for the detailed response!

But I guess there’s only a $3000 different on the tuition?

I’m not sure what you mean. Are you asking if there is a $3000 difference between in-state and out-of-state tuition? Or, are you asking if there is a $3000 difference between the OOS costs for each school?

Actually, both schools cost about the same for out-of-state students. See below.

Out of state Cost of Attendence per year…

$36,210, OHIO STATE

$36,848, PURDUE

OSU is better for pre-med. Purdue is more known for engineering.

^ Purdue is more known for Engineering AND Sciences. If you are possibly looking at Engineering and Business then I would recommend Purdue. Since you said you want to do Pre-Med/Pre-Dentistry, Purdue would be good since their Biology program is great. If your looking at Engineering they are Top 5 overall if I recall. Their Business school is good but isn’t equivalent to other schools in Indiana such as Notre Dame’s Mendoza or Indiana’s Kelley School of Business.

Out of state Cost of Attendence per year…

$36,210, OHIO STATE

$36,848, PURDUE

Where did you find these information from?
I thought Purdue’s tuition is about $37,000 and OUS’s is 32,000?
Thank you!

^^^

Using the word “tuition” isn’t accurate. The COA is tuition, room, board, fees, books, misc.

I got the amounts from a thread on CC where someone who researches COAs posted the info. Ohio State U’s COA page gives a similar amount.

If you’re interested in health sciences, engineering or business, Purdue is definitely the way to go

“If you’re interested in health sciences, engineering or business, Purdue is definitely the way to go”

hmm… while I concede that Purdue’s Engineering programs are more superior than tOSU in general, I am intrigued and wonder if you could elaborate on disciplines such as the health sciences or business in particular as you alluded above being definitely better than that of the Ohio State. Thanks in advance for the reply!

Does Purdue offer any scholarship? I knw OSU does…i got scholarship worth $6600!

I know Purdue did very well in the US News rankings (don’t remember anymore since I’m in college and I don’t care anymore haha) so I think Purdue has the best mix of good engineering and business programs so I would personally go there.

I like Purdue myself, did extensive research into the school but could not consider it due to the schools lack of input to my majors. With that said, I think OSU would be a better choice as Purdue is mainly driven for engineering.
