Purdue Vs. Maryland Reputation

I will be going to Purdue as a computer engineering major and my cousin is going to Maryland for the same. Out out of pure curiosity, which is more respected academically? Which has a bigger name? Given the same stats, which theoretical student would get hired?

just curious, thanks

The one who does better during the interview (assuming there isn’t a huge gap between your gpas).

any other thoughts on the prestige of each?

Maryland strikes me as more prestigious as its freshman are brighter and admissions are alot tougher but its probably regional

I am not sure, but I do know that Sergey Brin (of Google fame) got his undergrad degree in computer science at UMD. I know very little about computer engineering.

For engineering, Purdue is really easy to get in.. however I have not known anyone who applied to Maryland for engineering so I don’t know how tough it is to get in…

I’m not talking about getting in. I’m talking about the prestige of graduating.

Purdue has the better engineering rec but only by a little.
