Purdue vs. Michigan State

Which one is better? I got accepted for Information Technology/Computer Science major. I want to consider everything (academics, social life, etc.)

Michigan State University by far is a lot better.

"Michigan State University by far is a lot better."

How so? Purdue has a far better comp science department (top 20) and is a better school overall.

Well Michigan State University due to quality of education and life wise.

I actually was inform recently about a few juniors at my school who's been accepted into Michigan State University, and one actually got into Purdue as well... though selected MSU.

Purdue is supposed to have a good technology department, especially computer science. Thats kind of what they're known for besides engineering. There about the same as far as prestige, and I know purdue is in a decent college town, West Lafayette, with plenty to do for a college kid, plenty of bars, shops etc. idk much about MSU though

(Yeah, but looking at West La... on google streetview, didn't look much like a college town at all)

Purdue is definitely the better computer science department of the 2 as it's mostly an engineering focused school. Unless there's something really drawing you to East Lansing, go to purdue for CS (this is coming from someone who will probably go to MSU btw).

"Well Michigan State University due to quality of education and life wise.

How can you say that MSU offers a better quality of education than Purdue does? Purdue clearly has a better name recognition accross the nation, with its Engineering and Computer Science department continue being ranked among the top programs in the nation. Most students interested in computer programming/technology/engineering would certainly pick Purdue over MSU as far as department ranking, reputation and quality of faculty are concerned.

Well this is base off my opinion/ preference.

I think Purdue is a good school, and well in reguards to education etc....

To be fair, that depends on the program - MSU will be just as highly regarded, if not more, in social sciences, humanities, etc while Purdue will certainly have the better engineering/computer science programs
