Purdue vs RIT vs U of R engineering

Hey guys, I'm a senior from Rochester and I'm trying to decide where to go next year. I want to be an engineer, but I'm not quite sure which type yet. I liked Purdue's campus and facilities but I do not think I will be able to go there because it costs to much for out of staters. Purdue gave me no aid and is around 45,000, while U of R and RIT are both around 23,000. Do you guys think its worth it to go into that much debt just to go to Purdue?

I personally don't think it is worth it so I am torn between U of R and RIT. There are pros and cons to each school and I'm having a tough time deciding. I like RIT because it has a great Co-op program and it also offered me a spot into it's honors college. The Co-op would hopefully guarantee me a job out of school and the honors college would help if I decided to apply for grad school. The one thing is that I don't really know what honor colleges are about. I've gone to the meetings about them and heard the requirements and benefits, but are the honors colleges really that important? The one thing about RIT that I don't like is that I heard it is not the greatest place socially. I've heard that not many people get to know each other and that dorm doors are generally closed. I don't know if this is different in the honors college.

I like U of R because it seems stronger academically and socially (50-50 gender ratio vs. 62-38). I want to be able to get a great job out of college but I also want to enjoy it when I'm there. U of R sounds harder, but I think I would enjoy it a little better there. Its not like I was looking to party every night or even every weekend, but I do want to get to know a lot of people and have a good time. I'm a little worried about job placement out of U of R because they don't have a co-op program and I haven't heard about how good of internships they can find.

Thank you guys so much for reading my rambling mess of a post. If any of you guys go to U of R or RIT (especially the honors college) please feel free to post a response. Thanks for your time and have a great day!

It is not worth it to go into debt for Purdue.
