Purdue Vs. Rose-Hulman (Engineering)

Any suggestion about choosing school between
Purdue University and Rose-Hulman institute of Technology?

It's for undergraduate, majoring Mechanical Engineering.
Also, I'm planning to go to business grad school..(Hope in top 10).
Though I'm not sure where I went for undergrad affects my way into grad school, since it's totally different subject.

Anyway, which one would be the better choice?

Thanks!

They are both very good schools and you can't go wrong with either one. Its just what type of environment you prefer. I would go to Purdue if you are into the sports. Good luck with your decision!

They are both very good for engineering. I have heard this statement - " if you think you want to go into engineering then go to Purdue. If you know you want to go into engineering then go to RH." Have heard that Purdue first couple of years are weeder classes. They are opposites in size and sports. Terre Haute is pretty small - not as much to do as Purdue (but W. Lafayette is not that exciting either). RH has higher GPA and SATs but as you get into upper eng at Purdue it would probably be the same quality of students. RH is more money, but for OSS Purdue is closer in price. Both are good, it depends what you are looking for in campus/student body/course offerings.

For me, what influenced my decision to attend Rose-Hulman were the things that are hard to measure. For instance Rose has an open door policy, meaning that everyone leaves their doors open in the residence halls, even when they're not there. This helps build a sense of family and community in the halls and everyone feels comfortable talking to everyone else. This extends to the faculty and even our president Dr. Jackabowski. Dr. J told us at the beginning of the year that we are welcome to come in to his office to talk if we ever have a question or a problem and I have spoken to him several times at campus events. The professors encourage students to come and talk to them or email them, and many also give out home and cell phone numbers and IM screen names. These are just some of examples of the advantages of a small school like Rose that I have found.
