Purdue Vs U Mich AERO

Hi guys,
I'm a european student and have fair chances of getting in both these universities.
I found a lot of topics with purdue vs U mich but hardly about aerospace engineering, which makes a big difference.

Both schools seems to have amazing programs and reputation. Although UMich is sometimes ranked higher. Which is strange considering Purdue has its own airport and is known as the astronaut university. But anyways the ranks are very close.

What i would like to know is about the social life and such. I heard Michigan was great. And i didn't hear mcuh about purdue, which worries me. I heard that a lot of the indiana students go home on the week ends leaving the place half empty. And i also heard purdue has a very strict anti-alcohol policy. Not that i like to get totally drunk all the time, but it doesnt seem to be very fun if a beer or two get you in trouble. I'm not a huge party maker , but i'm not a fucking anti-social nerd that many engineering stereotypes lead to.
Same thing about the girls, what do you know about that ?

Thanks guys, i appreciate some help :)

PS: cost is not a problem.

Two daughters of a friend attended Purdue for engineering, out of state (both highly attractive). Great school, great coop program, very small town. I would not be surprised if things emptied on the weekend but they have (american) football and other activities on the weekends. If you’re more concerned about things to do outside of school then look at UMich.

D goes to Purdue. I’ll say this. I think Ann Arbor is a better college town, however, the engineering college is a couple miles away from the main campus where as at Purdue the Engineering school is the main campus. I would say program wise both are extremely good programs.

The engineering campus at Michigan is a ten minutes bus ride from the main campus. It’s not a big deal. Personally I like the split campus at Michigan simply because each area has a very distinct and different feel from the other. To me that difference makes the entire campus more interesting. If costs are not a concern, then I think Michigan is the easy choice here. W Lafayette/Lafayette Indiana is very boring.
