So I’m trying to decide between the following colleges (I haven’t been accepted into all yet but high chances).
I intend to be pursue Computer Science + Finance major at whichever one I attend; if Finance is not available, computer science will be my major. If I get in for my second choice major, finance in most places, I will definitely like to add CS.
The most important factors for me are academics and internships: I would like to take as many higher level courses as possible with as little humanities/non-major courses; internship opportunities also play a major role in deciding.
All factors:
-internships
-teaching quality (taught by actual profs or TAs)
-research opportunities
-academics in cs+fin
-location (near the recruitment)
-alum network
-college reputation among employers
-ease of adding a second major in biz/cs
Purdue - got in second-choice Finance; want to add cs)
UIUC - got in second-choice unassigned business; want to add cs
Penn State (in state) - got in for CS
RPI - high change for CS acceptance; will add BMGT double degree
Stevens - high chance for CS acceptance; will add quantitative finance
Lehigh - applied CSB program but likely denied; second choice was business (mid chance acceptance)
JHU: applied CS but likely denied; second choice business (mid chance acceptance)
Also, I’ve heard that UIUC doesn’t easily allow double majors between CS and Finance (from the admissions counselors),
and Penn State has restrictive entry for cs and business so i can’t dual degree in my fields of interest.
Assuming I get into these places, which should I choose?
Thanks. I appreciate any recommendations!
