Purdue vs. UIUC

Okay so these two schools are my top picks and from the information I've collected they look pretty similar academic wise. My parents continue to argue with me that Illinois is a much better school. Does anyone have any input for me on this? I really thought they were comparable? My major will be animal sciences do I'm mainly looking into comparing the agricultural colleges of both of these schools. Thanks!

for animal sciences, purdue is the college to go

Which school are you instate for? If you’re instate for one, then there’s no reason to pay OOS for the other.

If you’re pre-vet, go to your instate school for sure!

(What are your parents basing their opinions on? And will they pay for the OOS school? I’m guessing that UIUC is OOS for you. Will your parents pay the high OOS costs for UIUC???)

Illinois is the in state school for me

I just wanted to really see if one is better than the other for animal sciences.

Illinois would be considered the best of the three but for specifically Animal Science I’m not sure

If you’re instate for UIUC, then there’s no question about it. No point in paying OOS for Purdue…not worth it.

The point is to get into vet school…and UIUC can do that at a lower cost.

If your parents won’t pay OOS for Purdue (and it doesn’t sound like they will), then why is there a question? How would you pay for Purdue?

I understand that the point is to get into vet school. My question arose because Purdue offers some opportunities that UIUC doesn’t so I wanted input to see if there program and cost (which is comparable to tuition at UIUC) is worth going to for the possibility of guaranteed admission and the few other perks of their school.
