My friend in food science (a freshman) recently made ice-cream for her final project in one of her classes.

For an engineer, the Dairy Bar is a really long way off the normal route you take from north to the engineering quad. I've been there twice and the ice cream is "Oh MY GOD awesome!" like Kelly Kapoor would say. Once when I visited before I applied, and the other by accident when I took the wrong bus that instead of going to North campus went all the way down to the Dairy Bar, and this was on a Saturday. So I decided to treat myself to ice cream while I was already there. Then I had to make the long trek back to my dorm. Yep, story of my life.

I heard food science majors have to create a new flavor as their final exam for some upper-level class. Is that true?

Yep...and the winning flavor is sold at the Dairy Bar for a year.

GET THE CINNAMON ICE CREAM WITH CARAMEL SWIRLS + PECANS + APPLE BITS. AHhhhhhhhhh omg i had some at Appel the other night...

I miss Lynah Swirl...it was one of the winning food science flavors many years ago. Chocolate ice cream with nuts and a banana swirl...so delicious.
