Hey! An alumna of Cornell called me and asked if I wanted to schedule a meeting with her. I'm just wondering if other applicants are also asked. Also, what exactly is the reason for this meeting? Does it help your chances? What is usually asked?

There are plenty of answers in previous threads.

here's a good thread to look at:

Yeh, ti isn't really an interview. traight from the horse's mouth as they say. Just a little thing so the school can test your interest. It can only help you is what I got from my "interview". Unless of course you do something really really bad.. say hit on the interviewer or something uncalled for like that.

From what I've heard, the alumni interviews are more meant for RD people where the alum can help "sell" Cornell to you...they don't have much impact for early decision stuff, but I guess if they really like you they'll recommend you.

It's more of a if you screw up you're in trouble but it's impossible to screw up. If you can have a polite conversation about the school you'd like to attend (Cornell :)) for 20 minutes you're fine. Unless you're really rude to the interviewer you'll be fine. It hardly weighs on your decision at all.
